Raku Pottery

Service Description

In this two-day course, you will learn to shape decorative vases and finish them in a horsehair raku firing. This style of firing includes heating the ware to 1200°, pulling the glowing pot out of the kiln and decorating the piece using horsehair, feathers and sugar. The decoration burns onto the piece leaving a unique and unpredictable carbon finish. You will shape your vases the first Saturday. The second Saturday you will fire and take home your vases.
